The main areas of responsibility for the Assistant Accountant include but are not limited to:
- Daily recording sales and COGS journals generated from Inventory ERP system to corresponding accounts in Xero at a satisfactory level.
- Weekly recording external sales and COGS journals for one of the entities to corresponding accounts in Xero at a satisfactory level
- Monthly recording inter-group sales and COGS journals to corresponding accounts in Xero at a satisfactory level
- Daily cash reconciliations between Xero and bank statements for online orders only
- Reconcile inventory invoices and purchase orders and investigate any variances noted
- Prepare balance sheet recs for inventory related accounts i.e. inventory prepayments / goods received not invoiced.
- Respond to auditor’s queries and collating data as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the finance team to ensure the agreed tasks are prioritised and executed within the requested timeframe (both internally and externally).
- Filing relevant accounting records.
- Accounting/Commerce degree qualifications, currently undergoing CPA/CA qualifications or with the desire to commence
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a FMCG/ Manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a medium to large business
- Experience working in a team environment, with active stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of Xero or equivalent system
- Demonstrates knowledge of accounting standards and core accounting functions.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Excellent numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication, both verbal and written
- Proficient computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Typing)
