This is a leading Australian food producer - a privately owned, family business with a fully vertically integrated supply chain. As part of their operations, they have a large food processing and production facility in Regional Queensland. With a long-term owner-operator ethos and a $20M+ annual CapEx program, the business is investing heavily into their manufacturing facility and have created this new role, Capital Projects Manager, to lead that agenda.
This is a fully 100% onsite role at the manufacturing site. You will have to relocate permanently to the region for this permanent role.
The Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this is a newly created, standalone role responsible for owning capital project delivery end-to-end at a large and complex food manufacturing facility. You will manage a portfolio of projects ranging from under $100K up to larger projects over $5M+ mix of capital works, new equipment, new lines, significant utilities infrastructure (refrigeration, steam, water treatment, electricity etc.).
- Develop project scopes, business cases, costings and timelines. Run projects from initiation through to commissioning and handover.
- Manage contractor, consultant and vendor relationships - holding suppliers accountable on cost, scope and schedule.
- Oversee concurrent CapEx and OpEx budgets, tracking spend and forecasting against approvals.
- Drive on-site process improvements alongside capital works - mix of BAU projects to improve throughput and reducing downtime, and major CapEx.
- Work alongside other internal teams Operations, Engineering/Maintenance, QA, Safety throughout the project lifecycle
- Demonstrated track record delivering capital projects end-to-end in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Preference will be given to similar fast-moving industries such as food, beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, processing, industrial, chemicals, fertilisers etc.
- Previous experience managing capital projects $4M+ from initation and planning stage, through to execution and delivery.
- Strong contractor and vendor management - commercially minded with budget discipline.
- Hands-on and visible leadership style, comfortable working on the plant floor
