Our client is a large Australian industrial business with a significant operational footprint and continued investment into procurement capability.
The function is focused on strengthening strategic procurement capability, supplier performance and commercial outcomes across key spend areas.
The role
This is a Category Lead role with end-to-end ownership of a raw materials portfolio within a large and operationally critical environment.
The role requires a genuine strategic category management background, with responsibility across category strategy, sourcing, supplier management and commercial delivery.
You will work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to drive procurement outcomes, manage supplier risk and deliver long-term value across the category.
Key responsibilities:
- Own a raw materials category portfolio end-to-end
- Develop and execute category strategies
- Lead strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations
- Manage supplier performance, contracts and procurement risk
- Drive cost optimisation and value delivery initiatives
- Monitor supply markets and key commercial drivers
- Partner closely with stakeholders across the business
- Support procurement governance and continuous improvement initiatives
This role is suited to a procurement professional with strong strategic category management capability and experience operating within complex industrial or operational environments and within high spend categories. You will be comfortable managing categories autonomously, influencing stakeholders and driving commercial outcomes across a large-scale business.
Key requirements:
- Demonstrated strategic category management experience
- Strong sourcing, negotiation and supplier management capability
- Experience managing technical direct/raw materials categories
- Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, engineering or operational environments
- Ability to develop and execute category strategies autonomously
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
- Confident stakeholder engagement across operational and corporate teams
- CBD fringe location with hybrid flexibility
- Ownership of a significant raw materials category portfolio
- Exposure to a large-scale and commercially focused environment
