About the Position
Reporting to the Branch Manager for City Planning and Economic Development, this critical senior leadership position is responsible for developing and delivering the Economic Development Program for Brisbane City Council. Overseeing a team of 33 staff with three direct reports, the role will have oversight of a broad function that includes both operational and strategic delivery. It encompasses the City Analytics work program, strategic projects and delivery, and the operational elements of the Queen Street Mall, one of the highest foot traffic malls in Australia.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the economic growth of the Brisbane region across the short, mid and long term.

About the Person
Council is seeking a values-based, inspirational leader who can successfully motivate a specialist and diverse professional workforce, whilst maintaining superior levels of service delivery in a highly visible and sensitive environment. You will ideally have a broad understanding of economic development and a commercial, outcomes driven approach. Given the seniority of this role and the multi-dimensional focus, strong general management experience will be key to success. Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills are important prerequisites to build healthy relationships with a variety of committees, government related organisations, suppliers, and customers. Experience in a public sector/Local Government environment is not a prerequisite, but will be helpful.
