Our client is a well-established national professional services organisation currently seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their finance leadership team.

This is a key position within the business, operating as the operational second-in-command to the Head of Finance and partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the firm. The role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, operational finance, commercial analysis, budgeting, and business partnering within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
An opportunity now exists for a commercially minded and hands-on finance professional to step into a leadership role focused on driving operational excellence, reporting accuracy, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will play a critical role overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance function while supporting senior leadership across reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance activities.
The position will work closely with Practice Group Leaders and operational stakeholders across the business, providing meaningful financial insights, overseeing reporting processes, and supporting commercial decision-making across the firm.
The role is best suited to a proactive and commercially astute finance professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced professional services environment and balancing both leadership and hands-on responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Finance in the day-to-day leadership and management of the finance function
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team while overseeing workflow and prioritisation
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and review monthly management reporting, including variance analysis and key business metrics
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance across practice groups and offices
  • Oversee staff production, utilisation, and operational reporting across the business
  • Review and validate time recording, billing, WIP, debtor, and cash flow reporting
  • Partner closely with Practice Group Leaders and operational stakeholders to provide commercial insights and support decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and financial planning processes
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis, modelling, and reporting for senior leadership
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance reporting, controls, and operational processes
  • Work closely with systems teams to improve reporting automation, data integrity, and reporting capability
The Candidate

You will ideally bring strong experience operating within a professional services, partnership, or operational finance environment, with the ability to combine technical finance capability with strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
You will bring:
  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, or similar finance leadership role
  • Strong management reporting, operational finance, and commercial analysis capability
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring finance staff
  • Experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning experience
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience within professional services, legal partnerships, or partnership-based environments highly regarded
  • Exposure to practice management systems such as Aderant highly regarded
Qualifications
  • CA / CPA qualified
  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline
  • Advanced Excel skills essential
  • Experience within professional services, legal, or partnership-based environments highly regarded
