We are currently partnering with a respected not-for-profit organisation to recruit an experienced Accounts Officer for a 3-month contract. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple financial functions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Compliance
- Accurately calculate and process employee wages, salaries, and allowances using Xero
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation, and STP reporting
- Liaise with the HR Manager to interpret and apply relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts
- Process and reconcile monthly superannuation contributions
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records
- Respond to payroll-related queries from staff
- Process supplier invoices and debit card transactions in Xero, ensuring accurate coding
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs, including bank uploads and remittance advice
- Manage supplier queries and perform account reconciliations
- Raise and issue client invoices in line with requirements and instructions
- Ensure timely invoicing of completed jobs
- Follow up on outstanding debtors and respond to client enquiries
- Perform daily bank reconciliations across all accounts
- Investigate and resolve outstanding transactions promptly
- Reconcile debit card transactions monthly and follow up on missing documentation
- Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with external audit requirements by providing necessary information
- Support day-to-day finance operations as required
- Proven experience in a similar Accounts Officer role
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Sound understanding of Australian payroll compliance and legislation
- Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
