Finance Officer (3-Month Contract)

We are currently partnering with a respected not-for-profit organisation to recruit an experienced Accounts Officer for a 3-month contract. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple financial functions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing & Compliance
  • Accurately calculate and process employee wages, salaries, and allowances using Xero
  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation, and STP reporting
  • Liaise with the HR Manager to interpret and apply relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts
  • Process and reconcile monthly superannuation contributions
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from staff
Accounts Payable
  • Process supplier invoices and debit card transactions in Xero, ensuring accurate coding
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs, including bank uploads and remittance advice
  • Manage supplier queries and perform account reconciliations
Accounts Receivable
  • Raise and issue client invoices in line with requirements and instructions
  • Ensure timely invoicing of completed jobs
  • Follow up on outstanding debtors and respond to client enquiries
Bank & Reconciliations
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations across all accounts
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding transactions promptly
  • Reconcile debit card transactions monthly and follow up on missing documentation
General Duties
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with external audit requirements by providing necessary information
  • Support day-to-day finance operations as required
About You:
  • Proven experience in a similar Accounts Officer role
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero
  • Sound understanding of Australian payroll compliance and legislation
  • Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
