The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the balance sheet, supporting compliance obligations, and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, getting into the detail, investigating issues, and driving improvements.
  
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring balance sheet integrity.
  • Preparation and reconciliation of BAS and GST reporting requirements.
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding reconciling items and historical account discrepancies.
  • Supporting month-end reporting and providing assistance across the broader finance team during peak periods.
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing guidance where required.
  • Preparation and analysis of quarter-end reporting.
  • Analysis and reporting of fortnightly temporary recruitment revenue results.
  • Preparation of monthly flash reporting and management reports.
  • Maintaining and updating information within Sage.
  • Supporting audit requirements and compliance activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and project work.
  
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a technically capable accountant who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership.
You will ideally possess:
  
  • CA/CPA qualification (or be working towards completion).
  • Strong reconciliation experience and an understanding of balance sheet integrity.
  • Sound knowledge of GST, BAS preparation, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • The confidence to independently investigate issues and work through complex transactions.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and continuous improvement mindset.
