This is an exciting opportunity for a junior Accountant to join a NFP organisation in the South-East Melbourne suburbs. The Financial Accountant is responsible for accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and grant acquittals. 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  • Manage grant funding, compliance, reconciliations and financial acquittals.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation and WIP.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Complete month-end processes, including journals, accruals and reporting.
  • Prepare management reports, financial statements and variance analysis.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and assist with FBT and other statutory reporting.
  • Calculate and manage annual WorkCover remuneration reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts and cash reconciliations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support finance projects, system changes and team coverage as required.
The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance; CA/CPA studying or commenced preferred.
  • 1–2 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
  • Experience with reconciliations, reporting, cash flow and grant acquittals.
  • Aged care and/or grant-funded industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and collaborative with a continuous improvement mindset.
