The Role
Reporting to the CFO and forming part of the senior finance leadership team, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the financial control, reporting and governance environment while leading and developing the finance team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Take ownership of statutory reporting, compliance, taxation and external audit requirements.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance frameworks and balance sheet integrity.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and working capital reporting.
- Drive improvements across finance systems, reporting, processes and automation.
- Improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of management reporting.
- Partner with senior leaders and operational stakeholders to provide financial insight and decision support.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, improving capability, accountability and performance.
- Support the CFO across strategic projects, business improvement initiatives and broader organisational priorities.
- Help build the financial infrastructure and capability required to support continued domestic and international growth.
The Candidate You will be a CA or CPA qualified with strong financial control and technical accounting capability, combined with the commercial acumen and leadership skills required to operate effectively across a growing business. You will be comfortable working in a hands-on environment, able to move between detailed financial issues and broader business priorities, and motivated by the opportunity to improve and develop a finance function.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- CA or CPA qualification with strong technical accounting foundations.
- Experience operating as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or in a comparable finance leadership position.
- A track record of strengthening financial controls and improving finance processes, systems and reporting.
- Proven people leadership capability with experience developing and improving finance teams.
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, retail, franchising is essential.
