About the Position
Reporting to the Manager, Connected Communities, the Healthy and Vibrant Communities Manager is responsible for overseeing managing an overall budget of $38m, a staff remit of 50 employees and is an active contributor to the management of the Branch, Division and Senior Executive.  The objective of this diverse role is to provide strategy and direction in overseeing and enhancing the Council’s service delivery, operational planning and policy implementation with regards to the active and healthy community and the community sport and recreation facilities portfolios.

Overseeing more than 600 sporting and community tenancies, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a range of social policies for Council including Community Leasing Arrangements, Grants Policies and Community Facilities Planning and Maintenance. Other duties include: 
  • Developing and delivering a strategic framework for community facility planning and work schedules for community assets
  • Managing access to a network of community facilities and contributing to the overall planning agenda, including schedules of works for community assets
  • Providing support to a citywide network of sporting clubs and organisations to increase community involvement in physical activity, recreation and sport
  • Providing exceptional engagement with Council stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Representing Council on various internal and external Boards and Committees
About the Person:
This role represents an excellent opportunity for a senior operational leader with a background in community engagement and/or public facing service delivery.   To be successful, you must demonstrate astute stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence and lead through times of change whilst simultaneously building capability, both internally and externally.   A solid track record of good governance along with a natural affinity to providing exceptional customer service will also be critical.
