Role purpose:
The director will lead strategic initiatives and inculcate a culture of customer service, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement. They will provide guidance to organizational leaders (e.g., executives, senior staff, and service owners). Essential to this role is ability to lead process improvement and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and within scope and will lead a team of project managers, tech leads, developers and testers both onsite and offshore.
 
Principal responsibilities and tasks:
  • Serves as the business relationship linkage between the business units and IT, at multiple levels including the executive level.
  • Manages and communicates across executive levels of the organization to ensure alignment on decisions, priorities, and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests, projects and initiatives.
  • Focus on communication and alignment with C-Suite for strategic roadmap and initiatives
  • Owns defining strategic initiatives and plans, proactive, anticipatory, and driving in nature and provides significant value to business units.
  • Define the strategy for integrating/combining systems by providing a technology perspective, influencing, and ensuring alignment of IT strategy with business strategy.
  • Manages a team for research and investigation of potential solutions to help anticipate the business needs and communicates solution recommendations that support business requirements to business partners.
  • Manage a team for identifying, assessing, and promoting the use of new technologies for increased productivity or new capabilities for the business.
 
Essential competencies:
  • At least 10 years of experience serving an IT organization as a senior project manager, program manager, program director, or service delivery.
  • At least 7 years of supervisory experience, with excellent leadership and management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, priority setting, facilitation, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and lead through influence to accomplish challenging goals and objectives
  • Mentoring and team building experience
  • Certified project management practitioner or equivalent practical experience of project management.
  • Extensive experience of successfully managing and delivering complex projects
  • Excellent knowledge of project life cycle processes as defined by industry best practice.
  • Demonstrable ability to identify and clearly define specific roles, responsibilities and skills required for projects.
  • Experience of managing a range of different project size and types (e.g., Waterfall/Agile), across a range of technologies and customer sectors
