About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent acts as the primary Mechanical Subject Matter Expert across a large and diverse fleet of critical assets.

Whilst the role does not have direct reports, it provides technical leadership and guidance across Maintenance, Reliability, Planning, Electrical and Automation functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing maintenance backlog, improving preventative maintenance effectiveness and supporting major fleet transformation initiatives.

This position will be heavily involved in the introduction of autonomous equipment and the development of maintenance strategies to support emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the site's lead mechanical technical authority.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance execution teams.
  • Drive reduction of maintenance backlog and improve PM effectiveness.
  • Support asset reliability and equipment availability improvements.
  • Partner with Reliability, Planning and Operations teams to improve maintenance performance.
  • Contribute to fleet renewal, automation and asset improvement projects.
  • Investigate complex equipment issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support long-term asset management and maintenance strategies.
The Ideal Candidate for This Position Will Have Experience in the Following:
  • Mechanical maintenance leadership within a complex asset-intensive environment.
  • Maintenance improvement, reliability and asset performance initiatives.
  • Reducing maintenance backlog and improving preventative maintenance compliance.
  • Mining, rail, heavy industry, logistics or large-scale manufacturing environments.
  • Influencing stakeholders across multiple departments without direct authority.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building capability.
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification preferred; however, highly experienced trade-qualified Mechanical candidates will also be considered.
