About the role
This is a truly unique and Greenfields role where you have the opportunity to set up and develop the entire in-house media function for this leading B2C Client-side Brand.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will also manage and oversee the entire media budget and negotiate deals with publishers to deliver key marketing strategies and maximise return on investment with a continuous test and learn methodology. Working alongside the marketing and digital team you will have an ability to build and nurture strong relationships with all types of stakeholders. It's a meaty Media Investment Director role where you will be based in their head office in North Sydney but assist local branches across Australia for bespoke and tailored media planning. Along with seeting up their media function from scratch, you will ultimately have 3 key areas of ownership:

1. Media Planning

  • Work with the wider marketing team to understand marketing strategies
  • Research the best media to deliver marketing strategies, across all media channels, including branded content    
  • Work with the communications team to define what media can be earned and what should be bought
  • Work with internal media specialists (eg. social media and search specialists) to ensure media plans align

2. Media Buying
  • Negotiate media buys with publishers
  • Manage media budgets and process payments
  • Assist operations team with buying local area media
  • Provide specifications to marketing team

3. Reporting
  • Prepare and communicate analysis of media effectiveness, to achieve continuous improvement
  • Track and report on media spend against budget - you will have a test and learn

The successful candidate
  • Tertiary marketing, advertising, public relations or communication qualification, preferably degree
  • Five years’ minimum experience in media planning and buying and open to all industry sectors. You could come from agency or client side
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Vision and ability to think strategically
  • Well-developed listening and communication skills
  • Results orientated, drive and energy for translating thought to action and being accountable for the result
  • Self-starter able to initiate ideas and solve problems with minimum supervision
