Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of payroll operations, governance and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing accurate, compliant and timely fortnightly payroll processing, including complex transactions, terminations and salary packaging
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Single Touch Payroll (STP), superannuation, PAYG, FBT and WorkCover requirements
  • Maintaining strong payroll governance, controls, reconciliations and audit readiness
  • Managing payroll systems (Chris21/iChris), structures and data integrity, while liaising with system providers on enhancements and issues
  • Overseeing associated processes including directors’ fees, corporate credit cards, expense reimbursements and payroll‑related reporting
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce errors and improve efficiency
  • Partnering closely with Finance and HR stakeholders to ensure alignment and best‑practice outcomes
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a structured, compliance‑focused environment. You will bring:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in end‑to‑end payroll management within a medium to large organisation
  • Strong hands‑on experience with a well known payroll system
  • Sound technical knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, PAYG, STP and FBT
  • High attention to detail with a proven ability to manage complex payroll scenarios accurately
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across payroll and finance systems
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusted internal relationships
