Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their finance team on a part-time (3 days a week) temporary basis. This is a hands-on role supporting a shared services function, where you will take ownership of payroll processing across multiple entities within a well-established business.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations, while also supporting process improvements and broader team initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payroll across multiple entities (circa 150 employees)
- Managing payroll on-costs including superannuation, tax, and statutory deductions
- Maintaining accurate employee records, payroll data, and leave balances
- Processing terminations, adjustments, and employee lifecycle changes
- Preparing and lodging Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions
- Managing payroll tax and WorkCover reconciliations and lodgements
- Ensuring EBAs and Awards are accurately applied and maintained within the system
- Reviewing and validating timesheets, following up on approvals where required
- Supporting payroll reporting, reconciliations, and compliance obligations
- Assisting with process improvement initiatives across payroll and finance
- 4 + years proven experience in an end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including STP, super, and payroll tax
- Experience working with EBAs/Awards and interpreting conditions accurately
- High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders across the business
- Part-time role (3 days per week)
- Hourly rate of circa $45-$55 per hour + super (depending on experience)
- 3-month temporary assignment with potential to extend
