The Opportunity
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the payroll systems function, leading a team to ensure system reliability, support payroll delivery, and drive continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in managing day-to-day operations, resolving critical system issues, and supporting ongoing system optimisation and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of payroll systems specialists, providing coaching, support, and performance oversight
- Oversee day-to-day payroll systems operations, ensuring system stability and timely resolution of issues
- Act as the escalation point for complex system issues impacting payroll processing and pay close
- Work across payroll and workforce systems, ensuring they are configured and operating effectively
- Support system optimisation initiatives and contribute to ongoing transformation activities
- Partner closely with Payroll, HR, IT, and external vendors to resolve issues and improve processes
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify risks or inefficiencies
- Support system testing, upgrades, and implementation activities
- Drive continuous improvement through process enhancements, automation, and best practice system use
- Proven experience in a payroll systems leadership role with direct people management responsibility
- Strong hands-on experience with payroll systems, ideally PayGlobal
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and system dependencies in high-volume environments
- Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, or transitions
- Highly developed problem-solving skills with the ability to manage time-critical system issues
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- $120,000 + super
- 12-month fixed term contract. (potential to extend)
- Hybrid work model – 2 days in office, 3 days from home
