A Queensland Government Department is seeking a Principal Project Officer to join a major digital program supporting the delivery of critical justice services across Queensland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable project professional to work across a portfolio of technology-enabled initiatives, providing project coordination, governance, reporting and procurement support within a complex public sector environment. The role sits within a digital services and programs team delivering ICT projects aligned to a broader strategy to modernise services, improve workflows, enhance client experience, and support a more digitised and paper-lite court and tribunal system.

The opportunity In this role, you will support a specialist delivery stream and contribute to a broad range of project management activities, including governance coordination, risk and issue management, reporting, procurement support, and budget monitoring. The position will work closely with internal business stakeholders, program teams, and external government stakeholders in a collaborative and high-impact environment.
Key responsibilities You will be responsible for:
  • Providing project support in line with established program strategies, standards, tools and ways of working
  • Assisting with the identification, planning and tracking of project activities and dependencies
  • Supporting project governance processes, including secretariat support for boards and committees, meeting preparation, minutes and action tracking
  • Developing and maintaining project collaboration and planning tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Planner and MS Project
  • Managing and monitoring project risks and issues registers, and contributing to remediation planning
  • Supporting project assurance activities including reviews and health checks
  • Contributing to procurement activities, including documentation, evaluation and negotiation support
  • Assisting with financial administration including purchase orders, invoice processing, budget tracking and reporting
  • Preparing reports, briefings and correspondence, including advice relating to policy, legislation and procedures.
About you To be successful, you will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in project support, project coordination or project officer roles within a complex environment
  • Strong capability across project governance, reporting, risk and issue management, and stakeholder coordination
  • Experience supporting procurement and financial administration activities within a project setting
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings and formal documentation
  • A structured and proactive approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience using project and collaboration tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Planner and Outlook
  • Exposure to project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile, or similar will be highly regarded.
