Contact name : Arah Ko

About the opportunity
We're seeking a Product/Mechanical Engineer to join a long-established, genuinely respected local manufacturer of specialised commercial and industrial door and roller shutter systems backed by a global market leader in entrance systems. This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on manufacturing culture with access to global engineering resources, product range and career mobility.
Reporting to the General Manager, you'll take genuine ownership of a project's design from post-award through to manufacturing handover this is a true design engineering role, not documentation or admin support.

Employment type: Full-time, permanent

About the role
You'll develop accurate technical documentation, drawings and product specifications for a specialised door and shutter product range, ensuring everything supplied is fit for purpose, code-compliant and built to a high quality standard. Every unit is a custom build, so you'll be working directly with client-side engineering teams and technical contacts to get the design and construction interface right - customer-facing, without being a sales role. You'll also work closely with the factory floor, translating engineering specs into manufacturing instructions.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and detail custom engineering specifications based on site-specific requirements
  • Attend site visits to measure and document openings for engineering design
  • Produce engineering drawings to support sales and guide factory production
  • Prepare detailed production paperwork for accurate manufacture
  • Liaise directly with client-side engineering teams on design, fitment and construction
  • Assist in preparing quotations for supply and installation
  • Maintain and improve existing product design manuals and standards
  • Support quality benchmarking and cost-effective sourcing of materials
  • Contribute to OH&S policy development and compliance
About you
You're a self-motivated product engineer who thrives working autonomously, enjoys solving real design problems, and is comfortable being the technical point of contact for clients and builders alike.
You will ideally have:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Good proficiency in SolidWorks (AutoCAD also used elsewhere in the business)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and product design
  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Background in construction, manufacturing or heavy industries
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to manage client expectations
  • A coachable, growth-oriented mindset
Why this role
  • Join an established local manufacturer backed by a global market leader
  • Genuine career progression - potential to move into broader product management or design innovation functions
  • Structured onboarding and mentoring from 10–12 subject matter expert engineers nationally
  • Strong internal culture - collegial team with a mix of long-tenured and newer employees
  • Varied, autonomous role with genuine ownership from design through to production
