The Opportunity
You’ll own a diverse product portfolio, looking at new trends coming through overseas markets, social media and competitors to shape category direction, and collaborate closely with both Design and Sales teams to build ranges into retailers.
  
This role suits someone who has a keen interest in adult crafting and has worked in a role with both creativity and operations for the consumer goods or retail sector.
  
What You’ll Do
  • Product Strategy — Lead the full lifecycle across the Adult Craft and Stationary categories, from concept to launch.
  • Range Planning — Build compelling assortments tailored to Big W, Spotlight, Officeworks and other key accounts with the support of the National Account Managers.
  • Trend & Market Analysis — Identify emerging trends across homewares, craft trends and consumer behaviours.
  • Supplier Negotiation — Negotiate pricing, MOQs, timelines, and quality standards with overseas manufacturers across Asia and Europe.
  • Data & Reporting — Use advanced Excel skills to analyse sales, margins, forecasts, and product performance to support development of the next range.
  • Presentation Development — Build clear, persuasive PowerPoint presentations for internal reviews and retailer range submissions.
  • Overseas negotiations – Working with suppliers to get the best pricing and value in each product.
  • Project Leadership — Partner with design, sales, marketing and warehouse to deliver seamless product execution.
  
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience in product management, category management, or buying within arts & crafts, stationery, home, or general merchandise.
  • Basic Excel capability, using it daily. Ability to use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, would be desirable, but not essential.
  • Confident PowerPoint storytelling for retailer presentations and internal strategy decks.
  • Proven experience negotiating with overseas manufacturers, ideally in China, India, or Southeast Asia.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian retail landscape.
  • A balance of creative intuition and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with confidence.
