Location : New South Wales

About the opportunity
We're seeking a Production Manager to lead a made-to-order manufacturing operation producing custom-engineered access solutions in steel and aluminium. This hire is about adding further leadership focus to safety, 5S and continuous improvement as the site continues to grow.
Reports to: General Manager
Hours: 7:30am–3:30pm Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri, 7:30am–4:00pm Thursday (38-hour week)

About the role
You'll take hands-on ownership of the factory floor, working directly with the team and supporting section leaders day to day. This isn't a desk-bound role - you'll be visible on the floor, engaging with employees and building credibility through your presence, while the business grows toward a larger team over time.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day production, staff, materials and equipment planning
  • Drive safety, 5S workplace organisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage production scheduling to meet customer delivery timelines
  • Oversee product quality against customer requirements
  • Support stock purchasing, monthly stocktakes and consignment bookings
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings and ensure OHS compliance across the floor
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to factory employees
About you
You're a hands-on production leader who's comfortable in a practical, manually assembled manufacturing environment - this is not a sterile or highly automated setting, and you'll need to be genuinely engaged on the floor, not just managing from reports.

You will ideally have:
  • Proven production management experience in discrete manufacturing, fabrication or another custom/make-to-order environment
  • Comfort managing a manually assembled product with varied bills of materials
  • Demonstrated people leadership and factory-floor credibility
  • A strong safety focus and experience driving continuous improvement (Lean principles highly regarded)
  • Realistic expectations of a hands-on, practical manufacturing environment and the commute involved
Why this role
  • Genuine scope to shape safety and continuous improvement from the ground up
  • Join a business on a clear growth trajectory, with the team set to scale further
  • Strong potential for progression into broader operational leadership over time
  • Work closely with senior leadership in a business that values long-term careers
