Sharp & Carter is currently partnering with one of Australia's largest building and maintenance services business in their search for an experienced Finance Analyst to join their Melbourne based team in a 6 month fixed term contract commencing in May 2022.
About the Role
Working in an independent and stand-alone role and reporting to the Finance Manager, part of your responsibilities will be to:
- Ensure all project accounting activities are completed in accordance with monthly timetables and company policies / standards.
- Assist in preparation of monthly project finance reports for projects.
- Ensure actual/forecast revenue & costs are accurately recorded in the project accounting systems on a timely basis.
- Assist with project cost / overhead forecasting & variance analysis providing explanations on key movements.
- Preparation and processing of month end accrual and other journals.
- Preparation of working capital & cash flow forecasts highlighting movements from prior reports. Monitor cash inflows & out flows and assist project manager with the monitoring & collection of outstanding receivables.
- Provide support to client or company audits by providing timely & accurate information.
- Ensure revenue recognition is applied as per the company policy and appropriately reported in the monthly project finance report.
- Review transactional information to ensure correctly allocated / coded to the project.
- Assist the Line of Business Finance Manager with all budgeting, forecasting & reporting in accordance with group / divisional timetables & formats
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly & monthly management reviews.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure that all reconciling items are actioned and cleared on a timely basis.
- Preparation of overhead forecasts and variance analysis vs budget.
To be considered for this opportunity, we are seeking candidates with the following attributes:
- CPA or CA qualification
- Previous and significant work experience as a project accountant or Finance ANalyst
- Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analytical and logical thinking, strong numeracy skills
- Problem solving abilities
- Highly competent in use of financial systems
