Sharp & Carter is partnering with a Queensland Government department to source an experienced Technical Business Analyst for a AV Renewal program.
This role will support a large-scale program of work focused on the delivery of modern courtroom audiovisual, video-conferencing and integrated technology solutions across Queensland.
As the Technical Business Analyst, you will play a key role in translating business needs into clear technical design standards, specifications and documentation. You will work closely with technical specialists, architects, project managers, vendors and procurement teams to ensure technical requirements are accurately captured and suitable for inclusion in competitive tender documentation.
About the role As part of the Court Technology Renewal team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation that supports consistent project delivery across multiple court technology initiatives.
You will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution, ensuring design standards, specifications and guidelines are clear, accurate, practical and aligned to industry best practice.
Key responsibilities In this role, you will:
- Work with technical specialists and architects to develop and maintain technical design standards, specifications and guidelines for courtroom audiovisual systems.
- Produce documentation suitable for inclusion in tender and procurement packs.
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to elicit, validate, prioritise and manage requirements.
- Establish and enforce consistent standards for technical documentation across multiple projects.
- Review and interpret technical diagrams, including system diagrams, high-level architecture diagrams, layouts, elevations and schematics.
- Undertake market research into industry trends, emerging technologies and best practice in courtroom technology.
- Engage with other court jurisdictions across Australia to understand relevant standards and approaches.
- Identify project delivery risks and issues, assist with mitigation strategies and escalate where required.
- Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, external vendors, procurement and government stakeholders.
You will bring:
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in technical writing.
- Experience creating, reviewing and maintaining clear and concise technical documentation.
- Strong requirements gathering skills, including interviews, workshops and prototyping.
- The ability to quickly understand technical diagrams, system architecture, AV layouts, elevations and schematics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- The ability to negotiate priorities and resolve conflicting stakeholder requirements.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build consensus across cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in government, procurement, technology, audiovisual or complex infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
- Business Analysis certification, such as BABOK.
- Experience preparing design standards or technical specification documents for government procurement.
- Experience developing supplier-facing requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Exposure to audiovisual, video-conferencing, digital transformation or integrated hardware/software environments.
