The Opportunity
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will support the Senior Finance Manager and play a pivotal role in this high performing Finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Execute detailed analysis and reconciliation of inter-partner, inter-company, and capital accounts across all cost centres and subsidiaries.
- Review, cleanse, and reconcile balance sheet accounts tied to internal reinsurance activity across Intermediated portfolios and multiple cost centres.
- Undertake systematic remediation of balance sheet items associated with run-off agency partners.
- Reconcile and document historical balances, investigate aged reconciling items, and close dormant partner accounts where appropriate.
- Analyse debtor balances, commission positions, and reinsurance-related accounts for active agency partners.
- Support month-end processes, including preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Record remediation actions, key insights, and recommend ongoing controls to ensure long-term improvements
- Minimum 7 years’ professional experience, ideally within the financial services industry
- CA or CPA qualification
- Background in the insurance sector is essential
- Strong technical accounting and financial management capability
- Demonstrated experience across general insurance operations, including actuarial valuation concepts and reinsurance
- Proven understanding of accounting for foreign currency transactions, including exchange rate recognition and translation
- Solid grasp of corporate strategy, internal policies, and organisational principles
