The role 

Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the financial services industry, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong finance professional to take ownership of a broad portfolio covering financial reporting, regulatory obligations, reconciliations and a range of process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, supporting key finance processes and partnering with stakeholders across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of month-end close activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and associated supporting documentation.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with cashflow management and forecasting activities.
  • Prepare BAS, statutory reporting requirements, regulatory submissions and support the annual audit process.
  • Analyse financial information, identify trends and investigate variances as required.
  • Support commission reporting and calculations for key business stakeholders.
  • Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the finance team.
  • Build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external auditors.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience within the insurance sector is essential.
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a Senior Financial Accountant position.
  • Strong exposure to month-end processes, financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel capability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Previous experience within financial services environments will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently within a dynamic environment.
