Our client is a leading industrial services and engineering group with operations across Australia and internationally. With a diverse portfolio of businesses and a commitment to operational excellence, they are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their corporate finance team and play a key role in supporting financial reporting, compliance, treasury, and group accounting activities.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial management and reporting requirements of the Group. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the month-end accounting process for Corporate entities, including journal preparation, reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Coordinate the Group intercompany reconciliation and elimination process.
- Prepare consolidated monthly management reports, including variance analysis against budget and forecast, and Board reporting packs.
- Manage lease accounting models and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Lead the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets and forecasts across the Group.
- Coordinate information requirements and stakeholder engagement throughout the external audit process.
- Prepare annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with AASB and IFRS requirements.
- Manage tax effect accounting, income tax provisioning, BAS and FBT reporting obligations.
- Partner with external tax advisors in the preparation and lodgement of annual income tax returns.
- Develop and maintain Group cash flow forecasting models and treasury reporting.
- Support the management of banking facilities, covenant reporting and corporate finance administration.
- Maintain the Group Chart of Accounts and support SAP financial systems governance.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, strengthening internal controls and enhancing financial reporting capabilities.
- Provide technical accounting and taxation guidance to finance stakeholders across the business.
You are CA/CPA qualified and have ideally commenced your career within a Big 4 or Mid-Tier Audit environment before transitioning into industry. With 4–5+ years of experience, you have developed strong technical accounting expertise across financial reporting, compliance, and month-end and year-end processes.
You are confident navigating complex accounting matters and engaging with senior stakeholders to ensure reporting obligations are met. Your interpersonal and communication skills are first class, allowing you to build strong professional relationships across all levels of the business. Highly analytical and detail-oriented, you bring a proactive approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
