The Opportunity:
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lawyer – Industrial Relations to deliver commercially focused, practical and strategic IR support across a national business. This is a high-impact role responsible for embedding disciplined industrial practices, strengthening enterprise bargaining strategy and continuously improving IR systems of work.
The role will involve periodic travel across the East Coast of Australia, including regional locations, to support bargaining activities, stakeholder engagement and operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level industrial relations and employment law advice grounded in strong legal and commercial judgement
- Lead and support enterprise bargaining strategy and negotiations
- Manage complex IR disputes, including matters before the Fair Work Commission
- Ensure employment and industrial practices comply with legislation, awards and enterprise agreements
- Oversee end-to-end payroll compliance matters outside the formal IR compliance program
- Support internal payroll and IR compliance functions
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with unions, employee groups and external stakeholders
- Contribute to the uplift of IR capability across HR and operational leadership
- Continuously improve IR governance frameworks, systems and processes
- Proactively manage industrial risk to sustain a productive and commercially sound workplace
- Admitted legal practitioner with strong industrial and employment law experience
- Senior-level advisory experience in complex, unionised environments
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing IR strategies and tactical plans
- Strong knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements, acquisitions and change management
- Commercially minded with excellent stakeholder management capability
- Confident managing disputes and compliance matters at scale
- Comfortable travelling interstate and to regional locations as required
