We are currently partnering with a large Queensland Government department to recruit 2 x Senior Management Accountants (AO6) for an initial 6 month contract opportunity.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting services that support strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced management accountant to join a collaborative team and contribute to meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial management reporting, analysis and commercial advice.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets, identifying risks and providing recommendations to improve outcomes.
- Prepare monthly management reports, reconciliations, forecasting, budget revisions and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual State Budget, including budget submissions, Annual Reports and briefing materials.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of financial management policies, processes and reporting frameworks.
- Ensure budget allocations are accurately maintained and reconciled within the budget management system.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, Queensland Treasury and external service providers.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and provide financial support across a range of projects.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent professional membership such as IPA/MIPA).
- Previous Queensland Government or broader public sector finance experience will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within a complex organisation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and provide practical recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings and financial presentations.
- A proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Two 6 month contract opportunities.
- Full-time hours (36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
