Our client, a well-established organisation in the mining services sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join their finance team on a 6 month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with operational leaders while taking ownership of financial reporting, project accounting and commercial analysis.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting a major operational business unit, delivering accurate financial reporting and providing meaningful commercial insights that influence business performance.
This is a hands-on position offering a blend of technical accounting, finance business partnering and leadership. You'll work closely with senior operational stakeholders, helping drive informed decision-making while leading month-end reporting and mentoring a direct report.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end month-end close and management reporting process
- Deliver insightful financial and commercial analysis to operational leaders
- Partner with project and operational managers to improve business performance
- Manage project accounting, work in progress and job costing within ERP System.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
- Oversee inventory, capital projects and lease accounting
- Support statutory reporting and external audit requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements across finance and reporting
- Mentor and develop a direct report within the finance team
- CA or CPA qualification
- Extensive experience in a Senior Management Accountant or Finance Business Partner role
- Strong hands-on ERP experience, including project/job costing and month-end reporting. SAP highly desirable.
- Experience within mining services, engineering, manufacturing, construction or other project-based industries
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience
