Job Duties:
Reporting to the Payroll Services Manager, this role will involve supporting the delivery of an efficient and compliant payroll function, with key responsibilities including:
• Preparing and analysing complex payroll data and spreadsheets to ensure accuracy
• Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies in line with enterprise agreements and legislation
• Processing terminations, redundancies, leave entitlements, backpay, and payroll adjustments
• Maintaining accurate employee payroll records including superannuation, tax, and deductions
• Managing contract variations and ensuring alignment between documentation and payroll systems
• Conducting regular payroll audits and supporting compliance requirements
• Managing leave balances, purchased leave, and employee entitlements
• Supporting Centrelink Paid Parental Leave and internal parental leave processes
• Developing and maintaining payroll documentation, process manuals, and calculation tools
• Contributing to payroll projects, process improvements, and automation initiatives
• Providing training and support to payroll team members
• Acting as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries across the business
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will have strong experience in a senior payroll position, along with the following:
• Extensive experience processing complex payroll within a medium-to-large organisation
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
• Experience within aged care, NFP, or community services (highly regarded)
• Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUP; macros advantageous)
• Experience with payroll systems such as Chris21 or similar (desirable)
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
