The Position 

This is a nine-month contract WHS Advisor role based on the Queensland Central Coast. Reporting in to the WHS Manager, this position provides high quality support and advice to implement key components of the organisation’s Health & Safety Strategy. The WHS Advisor will assist with specialised WHS Management System development, implementation and support, and health and safety project delivery. This role requires a high level of consultation and engagement with operational teams as they outwork the initiatives contained with the Safety Action Plan.
  
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor compliance with legislation relating to duty of care, workplace activities and the use of the plant equipment and substances
  • Conducting site visits to further develop safety capabilities of workers and contractors and also manage hazards
  • General WHS duties such as reporting, incident investigations, trend management, risk assessments (JSEA/SWMS), workplace site inspections and developing safety procedures
  • Manage employee bookings for the organisation’s health monitoring program and maintaining the PPE/equipment safety store for inventory and tidiness
  • Assist with the implementation of training and education programs as established in the Safety Action Plan
  
  
Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS policies, procedures and safe systems of work
  • Tertiary qualifications in OH&S (minimum Certificate IV) and extensive knowledge of AS45001, workplace health and safety legislation and codes of practice
  • Possess a current valid “C” class driver’s license and Construction Induction White Card
  • Proven ability to provide sound advice and work in consultation with stakeholders on WHS matters
