Our client is an exciting retail business looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team. This role is a great opportunity for an individual with up to one three years experience in related accounting roles looking to take a step up in their career. The ideally candidate will be studying their CA/CPA or have plans to commence. The office is conveniently located in Martin Place right next to Martin Place Station.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working collaboratively among a close knit team, the role will include but not be limited to:
- Post bank statement entries into accounting system accurately.
- Manage customer refunds, including GST and other refunds with proper approval.
- Manage Accounts Payable processes, including invoice verification, posting, and timely payment.
- Perform daily cost accounting in accounting system and check and resolve any posting errors.
- Assist in month-end closing processes and preparation of accounts payable reports.
- Act as back up for Finance team, filing and other financial administrative tasks as required to contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance department.
- At least six months experience in related accounting roles (internship experience considered)
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field
- Ideally studying or planning to study a CA/CPA qualification
- Experience with large accounting software such as SAP, would be an added advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Well-developed numerical, written and communication skills and the ability to actively and accurately listen to all parties
