About the Position
Reporting to the Divisional Manager, Organisational Services, the Chief Information Officer is primarily responsible for creating value across Council’s ICT functions that aligns to current and future business requirements. The CIO will provide strategic leadership to multiple teams of IT professionals who collectively are responsible for executing large annual programs of works and developing an innovation pipeline of emerging technologies to further improve delivery of services to the community.

In addition, this person will lead the ICT investment process including risk-based planning for maintenance, support, and replacement decisions, ensuring fit for purpose enterprise technology across all Council divisions. Key to your success will be operational gains in the areas of cost efficiencies, increased organisational capability and enhanced customer experience.
 
About the Person
We are seeking a seasoned executive with extensive experience within large, complex data driven environments (public or private sector) who operates on the business principles of flexibility, customer responsiveness and agility. A comprehensive background in all facets of Information and Communications Technology including contemporary trends and their application in a commercial environment is considered essential. Critical to success in this position will be extensive experience and understanding of cyber and enterprise risk, as well as smart technology, IoT and AI.

Strong business acumen and cost control measures across consumption-based technologies, ICT sourcing and program delivery is highly desirable as are well developed influencing and stakeholder management skills. A leadership style which embodies Council’s “Leadership Blueprint” is also critical in this role, combined with a relevant tertiary qualification in an applied discipline, preferably at a postgraduate level.
