About the organisation

Established in 1992, QLeave is a statutory authority established to administer portable long service leave schemes for eligible workers in the building and construction, contract cleaning, and community service industries.

QLeave’s General Manager reports to the Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing through a Board of Directors in respect of each of the portable long service leave schemes. QLeave operates with Board governance who provide the financial skills necessary to ensure the longevity of the schemes and includes employer and employee representatives.

The authority is governed by three Acts (with three separate Boards) and is now responsible for over $1.3bn of funds under management that support portable long service leave entitlements across the building and construction; contract cleaning and community services sectors.

About the role

With new leadership, QLeave is set to embark on an exciting phase of internal uplift and transformation to future proof the organisation.  As a member of the Executive, the Director Corporate Services will play a pivotal role in this legacy building journey.

Reporting direct to the General Manager, this ‘enabler’ role is focused around uplifting internal capability and capacity and includes oversight of the following areas:
  • People, Culture and Capability
  • Policy and Legal
  • Information Technology and Innovation
  • Finance and Investment Services
Responsibilities are varied but include:
  • Building a framework of capability and nurturing a high-performance culture by assessing workforce capability and developing and delivering short, medium and long term plans to build operational excellence
  • Providing strategic support in the development of the organisation’s Employee Value Proposition
  • Unite the executive and embed a partnership model of customer focus underpinned by contemporary processes, procedures and digital technologies to enhance efficiencies and empower our teams
  • Ensuring robust corporate governance, quality management systems and risk management strategies are implemented throughout the organisation
  • Shaping and delivering on corporate strategies in support of QLeave’s strategic direction
  • Collaboration with the leadership team on key strategies to mitigate strategic and cross functional risks
About you

Ideally you are a progressive Leader who is passionate around developing your team and building capability to ‘best practice’ standards.  Your background could vary such as Human Resources leadership, Organisational Development/transformation, Legal or potentially from a Consultancy environment. To be successful, you must possess exceptional leadership ‘presence’, have demonstrated capability in workforce planning and capability uplift, be bold in challenging the status quo and be a natural strategic thinker.

Due to the nature of this role, the initial contract duration will be 11 months.
