About the Role:

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial compliance, taxation reporting, and governance across the Group. You will play an instrumental role in strengthening tax processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving excellence in financial operations.
You will also lead a small team, partner with key internal stakeholders, and manage relationships with external regulatory bodies including the ATO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine tax policies, procedures, and governance frameworks, particularly across Tax Policy and GST Governance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and lodgement of ATO reporting obligations including BAS, STP, PAYG, payroll tax, and FBT.
  • Monitor and address non-compliance issues and implement corrective action where required.
  • Provide advice on legislative changes and assess their impact on Group compliance and reporting.
  • Partner with finance systems teams to implement required policy and technology updates.
  • Oversee periodic financial close processes and compliance reporting.
  • Assist with Group statutory and Board reporting.
  • Support interim and year-end audit processes.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote a strong culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and mentor a small but capable team, fostering high performance and accountability.
About You 
  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • A strong background in accounting, ideally with Chartered/professional services experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in indirect tax, particularly GST.
  • Experience managing relationships with the ATO and State Government bodies (Top 1000 GST Assurance Program exposure highly regarded).
  • Proven leadership capability with experience managing and mentoring a small team.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legislation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential).
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 or JIRA (advantageous).
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
