The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the business. This role plays a key part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation and providing insights that support informed decision‑making. This role also gives you exposure to budgeting, forecasting, analysis and business partnering.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for month‑end processes, statutory compliance, financial analysis, and supporting ongoing improvements to financial systems and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Perform month‑end and quarter‑end close processes across production and overheads.
- Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal departmental reports.
- Compile monthly reporting packs including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Provide variance analysis and commentary on financial performance.
- Partner with central teams to address reporting queries.
- Prepare BAS, FBT, payroll tax, WHT, and other statutory lodgements.
- Assist with annual income tax return preparation in partnership with external advisors.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate half‑year and year‑end audits.
- Prepare statutory financial statements in line with Australian and International Accounting Standards.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks.
- Support initiatives to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
- Budget and forecast preparation.
- Support the Finance Manager on ad‑hoc projects.
- Manage and report operating cashflows.
- Review and authorise supplier and staff payments.
- Collaborate with operational teams across the business.
- CA qualification is essential - either studying or completed!
- Big4 1st Movers or Mid-Tier 1st Movers highly encouraged!
- 3–5 years’ professional experience in accounting, particularly in compliance, tax, and reporting.
- Chartered Accounting firm experience highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of AASB, Corporations Act, and Australian tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP or Xero.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn will be essential in your success in this role!
