About the Role
Your role as the R&D Manager will lead and implement product development plans, overseeing a team dedicated to executing multiple projects in product innovation and renovation. From conceptualization and recipe development to trial, factory validation, and commercial production, this role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure excellence in executing the innovation pipeline.
The R&D Manager plays a hands-on role in product development and is responsible for managing, coaching, and developing direct reports to achieve high levels of performance and engagement. The team focuses on developing and commercializing new products in the fresh and frozen meals categories for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific discipline
- 10+ years of R&D experience in the food or FMCG industry, with a strong technical background
- Proven leadership of product development teams (5+ direct reports), including coaching and performance management
- Track record of launching successful products in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory compliance, and labelling requirements (e.g. FSANZ, HACCP)
- Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Marketing, and Supply Chain
- Skilled in managing multiple product development projects from concept to commercialization
- Ability to apply consumer insights and market trends to drive innovation and product improvement
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
