Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and overseeing project accounting within a dynamic civil construction environment. Partnering closely with Project Managers and business unit leaders, you will provide commercial insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to strengthening financial processes and controls across the organisation.
The Responsibilities
Reporting into a Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow reporting.
- Oversee project accounting, including WIP calculations, cost tracking, margin analysis, and revenue recognition for projects.
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor project performance, budgets, forecasts, and cost variations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory compliance requirements in coordination with external advisors where required.
- Lead and support the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring strong internal controls and process efficiency.
- Assist the Financial Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including system enhancements, process automation, and strengthening internal financial controls.
