The Senior Legal Counsel plays a pivotal role within the construction and delivery department of the business. The successful candidate will provide expert legal, commercial, and contractual advice, with a primary focus on large construction, design, and third-party contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide authoritative legal advice on a wide range of issues affecting the business.
- Manage external legal service providers effectively.
- Support the General Counsel in analyzing and advising on legal, regulatory, and commercial issues, as well as identifying legal risks.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to internal customer requests for legal services, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Interpret and advise on various legal issues, including contracts, tenders, procurement, employment, health & safety, FOI, privacy, property, and environmental matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contractual arrangements to ensure the organisation's legal protection.
- Legal firm or in-house legal experience
- Front or back end construction experience; ideally with experience gained in both
- Strong contract interpretation and drafting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership capability
