Position Purpose:

The Senior Management Accountant – Property plays a key leadership role within the Finance Executive team. This position is responsible for overseeing property accounting operations across a diverse portfolio of assets, ensuring both compliance and commercial objectives are met. The role also contributes to strategic projects, delivering financial insights and supporting business growth through retail advisory initiatives.

As the second-in-command to the Property Finance Manager, the role has a dual reporting line to both the Finance Manager and the CFO. A significant part of the role involves managing the offshore accounting support team and mentoring junior staff within the department.

Key Performance Objectives:
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining full compliance with accounting standards.
  • Drive efficiency and cost savings through the implementation of value-adding process improvements.
  • Support and develop team performance through effective leadership, feedback, and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports with detailed analysis and commentary.
  • Present financial results and insights in management and client meetings.
  • Provide commercial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Business Partnering:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, centre management, and leasing teams to provide financial support and insights.
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner across centre operations and head office departments.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of annual budgets and business plans for key stakeholders.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts in collaboration with operations and leasing teams, challenging assumptions and contributing insights.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement improvements to reporting, analysis tools, and forecasting processes.
  • Support the development and rollout of enhanced budgeting and forecasting modules.
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Manage performance of the accounting team in line with organisational policies.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and staff development planning.
  • Mentor and train staff to build capability and succession pipelines.
  • Supervise and coordinate the offshore accounting support function.
Qualifications & Experience: Qualifications:
  • CA/CPA qualified or in progress
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in retail property or shopping centre management accounting
  • Yardi Voyager experience is highly desirable
Skills & Capabilities:
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and reporting skills
  • Confident presenting to stakeholders and business partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP accounting systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and work independently
