The Opportunity:


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a well-established organisation based in the Perth CBD. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across both clergy and employee groups.

This role also offers the opportunity to supervise a Payroll Officer and play a key role in maintaining and improving payroll systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end payroll processing across fortnightly/monthly cycles
  • Manage new starters, terminations, leave, adjustments, and pay runs
  • Oversee time & attendance via Humanforce
  • Ensure compliance with NES, Modern Awards, and Fair Work requirements
  • Conduct BOOT testing where required
  • Process STP submissions and superannuation returns
  • Manage PAYGW, deductions, and salary packaging
  • Prepare and process payroll-related payments and reconciliations
  • Maintain payroll records including allowances and clergy stipends
  • Administer long service leave and FBT reporting
Accounting & Reporting:
  • Prepare payroll journals and general ledger reporting
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with system uploads (TechOne)
  • Generate payroll costing and reporting insights
  • Prepare ABS reporting and payroll remittances
Stakeholder Support & Systems:
  • Partner with HR on payroll-related legislative matters
  • Support internal stakeholders with payroll queries and entitlements
  • Maintain and improve payroll systems (Micropay & Humanforce)
  • Liaise with external providers including salary packaging
About You
  • Minimum 4+ years end-to-end payroll experience
  • Experience supervising or mentoring payroll staff
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation (PAYGW, STP, Super, FBT)
  • Solid understanding of Fair Work Act, NES & Modern Awards
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Desirable:
  • Experience with Micropay and/or Humanforce
  • Exposure to complex payroll environments
