An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a well-established organisation based in the Perth CBD. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across both clergy and employee groups.
This role also offers the opportunity to supervise a Payroll Officer and play a key role in maintaining and improving payroll systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end payroll processing across fortnightly/monthly cycles
- Manage new starters, terminations, leave, adjustments, and pay runs
- Oversee time & attendance via Humanforce
- Ensure compliance with NES, Modern Awards, and Fair Work requirements
- Conduct BOOT testing where required
- Process STP submissions and superannuation returns
- Manage PAYGW, deductions, and salary packaging
- Prepare and process payroll-related payments and reconciliations
- Maintain payroll records including allowances and clergy stipends
- Administer long service leave and FBT reporting
- Prepare payroll journals and general ledger reporting
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with system uploads (TechOne)
- Generate payroll costing and reporting insights
- Prepare ABS reporting and payroll remittances
- Partner with HR on payroll-related legislative matters
- Support internal stakeholders with payroll queries and entitlements
- Maintain and improve payroll systems (Micropay & Humanforce)
- Liaise with external providers including salary packaging
- Minimum 4+ years end-to-end payroll experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring payroll staff
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation (PAYGW, STP, Super, FBT)
- Solid understanding of Fair Work Act, NES & Modern Awards
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Experience with Micropay and/or Humanforce
- Exposure to complex payroll environments
