About the role

As a talented workplace relations professional you will play a key role supporting University stakeholders, working alongside accomplished colleagues within the University's corporate team.  No two days will be the same and diversity will be the central theme, but some of the key tasks this role entails are:
  • Planning: engage with senior management, key stakeholders and members of the project team to contribute to the development of the University’s proposals.
  • Negotiating: be a member of the University’s Bargaining team, participate in bargaining meetings and lead discussions and negotiations on allocated subject matter/clauses. 
  • Implementing: lead the timely implementation of the new Collective Agreement through the development of implementation project plans.
  • Communicating: support to the execution of the communications strategy through contributing to the drafting and disseminating key messages across a variety of communication channels including email, intranet and briefing sessions.
About you

You could come from a background within the law where you have had experience within workplace relations or taken a different course where you dealt with this subject matter in another occupation.  Either way some of the skills and experience that will help you succeed in this role are:
  • Demonstrated understanding of the law relating to workplace and industrial relations and an ability to interpret and apply enterprise agreements, awards, legislation, contracts and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships internally and externally and to communicate effectively on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex and political environment and balance a range of priorities and expectations.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels and to provide professional and focused customer service.
