About the role:

Working for one of Australia's leading retail organisations, you will develop and execute the self-insured risks strategy for the Group and its business units (including workers compensation and public liability). This role is hands-on and works collaboratively with the business and our service partners (claims administrator and appointed actuary) to deliver Group Treasury’s advice and service to a high standard.

  
The Responsibilities:
  • Develop the Group’s strategy for self-insuring risk and assist the Assistant Treasurer Balance Sheet & Insurance and the Group Treasurer to take it through to approval by the CFO and Board
  • Supervision of the half-yearly and full year actuarial valuation of the Group’s self-insurance liabilities
  • Prepare the annual and half-yearly self-insurance provision recommendations and assist the Assistant Treasurer Balance Sheet & Insurance and Group Treasurer to take them through to approval by the CFO and Board
  • Management of annual information lodgement with regulators, and organisation of bank guarantees required by regulators
  • Provide insight to the Safety and Public Liability teams in relation to key metrics, portfolio performance and the impact on the valuation
  • Preparation of the Group’s annual self-insurance budget and allocations
  • Monitor and manage the Group’s self-insurance provisions
  • Contribute to the governance of the Group’s outsourced claims management function
  • Manage the self-insurance implications of acquisitions and divestments
  • Act as an Administrator on the Group’s electronic banking platforms and Treasury Systems
  • Assist with Group Treasury's contribution to the Group's half year and annual Results and monthly reporting to the CFO and Board
  • Contribute to Group Treasury initiatives such as process improvements, system implementations and upgrades, etc
  
The successful applicant will have:

You will be a CA/ CPA qualified accounting professional with experience across workers’ compensation or public liability for an ASX listed company, broker, insurance, or actuarial firm, including in relation to outstanding claims liability valuation, provisioning, and continuous disclosure obligations. Strong relationship management skills with evidence of working effectively and collaboratively within and across teams in an agile way. Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders and exert influence to deliver on commitments, including Group Treasurer, external service providers and business units
