The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end accounts payable process, including supplier invoices, staff expenses, and payment coordination. The role works closely with finance, payroll, and accounts receivable teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of the accounts payable function while supporting the broader finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end accounts payable, including reviewing, validating, and entering supplier invoices and staff expenses, ensuring accuracy, budget alignment, and prevention of duplicate payments.
- Process payments in line with approval requirements and invoice terms, verifying bank details and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure correct and timely payments.
- Administer the database, including ordering, receipting, returns, invoice matching, and allocation of costs across state offices.
- Support the wider finance function through inbox management, quality compliance, and general administrative duties.
- Extensive experience in an accounts payable role, with experience in MYOB highly advantageous
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and experience using various databases.
- Excellent time management, organisational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and a demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and financial compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a proactive, can-do attitude.
