PRIMARY ROLE PURPOSE
Reporting directly to Mayor and Councillors, the Chief Executive Officer will be primarily responsible for delivering on the financial and operational objectives outlined in Council’s recently finalised 2021-2026 Corporate Plan.
Specifically, this will involve developing and executing business and investment opportunities in agribusiness, energy, manufacturing, and tourism; overseeing the delivery of community based social, cultural, and sporting based programs. In addition, maintaining quality essential services and ensuring modern infrastructure is provided across Council’s recreational spaces, community facilities and road networks is a key part of the Chief Executive’s remit.
Council is widely recognised as a financially intelligent and responsible organisation therefore, any incoming CEO will need to maintain these high standards across sustainable financial and operational plans, customer service delivery, organisational capability, asset, and risk management practices.
ABOUT THE PERSON
We are seeking an inspirational, empathetic, and values-based leader who possesses significant experience in a similar sized or larger organisation, ideally within a government environment and/or private sector organisation that delivers a diverse range of services to its customers. You must possess the ability to lead and empower a senior leadership team and complex workforce and build a culture of performance and accountability over time. Highly developed stakeholder management skills and an ability to translate strategy into tangible outcomes are considered essential attributes for this position. Ideally, you will possess broad networks across Government, industry, an understanding and appreciation for rural communities and a practical understanding of contemporary governance and risk management practices. Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
