The Position 
Reporting directly to the Financial controller, you will be responsible for technical accounting with a focus on reporting and compliance. You will gain direct exposure to and work closely with exceptional finance leaders in the CFO and Financial Controller.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the CFO and Financial Controller on the interpretation of and compliance with accounting standards
  • Prepare technical papers to support accounting positions taken, and assist with the annual financial audit and responding to audit queries
  • Assist with internal audit requests and ensuring compliance with Group policies and processes
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements, including tax effect accounting
  • Assist with end of month group reporting packs and analysis
  • Prepare relevant balance sheet reconciliations and assists with end of month balance sheet reviews
  • Prepare GST, FBT, Income tax, Payroll taxes and employer obligation reporting to the relevant governing bodies as required.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting IFRS16 lease arrangements, manage the Lease Management systems from a financial perspective; review and approve monthly rent invoices
  • Manage accounting for acquisitions (preparation of Completion accounts; opening Balance Sheet journals; and goodwill calculations)
  • Manage accounting for divestments (review of Completion accounts; preparation of closing Balance Sheet journals and apportionment of goodwill)
  • Manage funding acquittals for various state government grants; liaise with the operations team to manage spend under the grants
  • Identify and implement process and control improvements
  • Undertake other responsibilities as required and directed by the Financial Controller
Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar
  • CPA or CA Qualified
  • Experience within financial reporting and financial control
  • Advanced problem solving and planning and organisational ability
  • Sound Australian accounting standards knowledge
