Role overview
A state government department is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Senior Project Manager to deliver ICT-enabled cyber security initiatives within its Information & Technologies Branch.
The initial focus of this role is supporting a major Cyber Security Program of Work, with the flexibility to contribute to additional strategic ICT initiatives as required under a modern, flexible resource model.
What you'll be responsible for
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver cyber security initiatives on time and within scope
- Manage end-to-end project delivery from planning through to implementation and transition to BAU
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, governance artefacts, and reporting
- Prepare project board papers, change management strategies, and stakeholder communications
- Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and integrated project schedules
- Ensure effective change control and smooth operational handover
- Engage effectively with senior executives, technical teams, and external vendors
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to improvements in delivery practices and operating models
Essential
- Minimum 4 years' experience delivering cyber security projects
- Strong knowledge of Australian Government cyber security standards, including ISM and Essential Eight
- Senior ICT project management experience using PRINCE2
- Strong scheduling skills using Microsoft Project (Enterprise Portfolio Online desirable)
- Proven ability to manage governance, resources, vendors, and stakeholders in complex environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience delivering or uplifting security frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight maturity)
- Practical experience coordinating cyber assurance activities, including risk assessments, penetration testing, and compliance reporting
