About the role:

This role, reporting is responsible for providing primary secretariat support to the university’s Academic Senate, its subcommittees, and the university’s controlled entities. Additionally, the role entails providing secretariat support to Council and its subcommittees during peak demands or times of absence. Facilitating effective functioning of activities undertaken by these governing bodies is paramount, including administration of meetings, communication facilitation, record maintenance, and providing guidance to committee members and senior leaders. Promoting transparency, compliance, and effective decision-making within the university’s governance structure is central to this role.

Governance:
  • Contribute to developing and implementing governance practices and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate member development activities and evaluations to enhance committee performance.
  • Provide independent, impartial support to serve the university's best interests.
  • Identify and manage conflicts of interest.
Meeting Management:
  • Schedule meetings and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements and serve as the principal recording officer.
  • Offer procedural advice and maintain administrative systems.
Communication & Documentation:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members.
  • Manage communications and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Facilitate communication between members, university leadership, and business units.
About you

You may already occupy a similar role within governance or governance support; be that in the education space, public or private sector.  Some of the skills, experience and attributes that will help you succeed in this role are:
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in business administration, finance, or law.
  • Deep Understanding of governance, compliance, and policy requirements.
  • Ability to interpret policy and provide related advice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
