A large Australian organisation is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect for a delivery‑first, hands‑on role focused on building and embedding practical data capability — not just setting strategy.
This role suits someone who enjoys designing, implementing and improving data platforms, working directly with data, systems and stakeholders to make reporting and analytics actually work.
The Role
While the role sets direction for enterprise data architecture, the core focus is hands‑on execution. You will actively design, guide and shape the implementation of a modern enterprise data platform that integrates operational and corporate systems.
This is not a purely strategic or advisory role — you will be deeply involved in data modelling, integration patterns, platform design and governance uplift.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current data landscape and actively design target‑state architecture
- Hands‑on design and guidance of an enterprise data platform (warehouse / lake)
- Define and implement data integration, modelling and analytics standards
- Establish and embed practical data governance (ownership, quality, access)
- Enable modern reporting and analytics (e.g. Power BI) and reduce manual reporting
- Design AI‑ready data structures and pipelines to support future analytics
- Work directly with application and platform teams to ensure solutions are delivered, not just documented
- Proven experience in roles that have a mixture of hands on delivery and data architecture
- Strong background designing and implementing data platforms and pipelines
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure or AWS)
- Confident with SQL, data modelling and analytics tooling
- Comfortable balancing architecture discipline with pragmatic delivery
- Able to translate business needs into working data solutions
