The Position

A State Government Department is seeking an experienced and detail‑focused Finance Officer to support the delivery of high‑quality financial services. Working within a dedicated Financial Services team, you will contribute to accurate financial transaction processing, deliver responsive customer service, and assist with monthly and annual financial reporting. This role suits someone who enjoys providing reliable operational support, thrives in a structured environment, and is committed to maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.

Initial two month contract with review to extend.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process a variety of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, corporate cards and asset-related tasks.
  • Assist with reconciliations and contribute to month‑end and year‑end reporting activities.
  • Provide advice to internal stakeholders on finance procedures, policies and operational requirements.
  • Support ongoing improvements to financial systems, processes and operational workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and compliance controls.
  • Deliver guidance and training to staff relating to finance systems and transactional processes.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in financial administration or transactional finance within a busy, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to respond confidently to a range of enquiries.
  • Good knowledge of financial processes, governance principles and documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in finance systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
