Position Summary
  
The primary focus of the Financial Accountant is to provide accounting and related financial support in a timely, accurate, cost effective and flexible manner to achieve business goals.
  
Key Responsibilities
  
Finance and Accounting
  • Monitor and analyse accounting data and produce financial reports
  • Budgeting, forecasting and business case scenario modelling
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Accrual Schedules
  • Payroll Reconciliations
  • Payments Suspense Reconciliation & Fixed Asset Entry
  • Contract management
  • BAS/FBT and other compliance matters
  • Assist with Internal Audit Program
  • Assist with External Audit Program
  • Policy review and preparation
  • Assist with implementation of new systems
  • Assist in covering payroll function
  • Assist with other duties as directed by the Group Financial Reporting Manager 
Reporting - assist with:
  • Monthly management reports including support of systems for communication of business information
  • Monthly financial reports
  • Preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements
Stakeholder Service
  • Liaise with staff and/or management on finance related queries
  • Develop an in-depth awareness and understanding of the business in order to communicate with key stakeholders on matters such as costs and operational efficiencies
  • Working with internal, external, and tax auditors
Projects
  • Undertake such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Group Financial Controller, Finance Business Partner or Group Reporting Manager.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of reporting systems, processes, and procedures to ensure best practice  
Relevant Laws and Regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all current legislation and regulations (i.e. State and Federal laws) and relevant awards and agreements
Key Selection Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting qualification with a professional accounting body (CPA/CA) or intent to obtain professional accounting body qualification
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet and data software
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, set priorities and meet deadlines with flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing demands
  • Proven high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
